Q: What is the English Language Institute Refund Policy for international students?


Metro’s English as a Second Language courses are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and adult International students. Please contact the office at 780.428.1111 to learn more.

Metro accepts cash, cheque, VISA, MasterCard or debit card payments. 

Yes. Eligible international students are required to pay international fees to take a high school credit course with Metro.  If you have a different type of permit, please call 780.428.1111 to see if you are eligible to apply.

If you are an adult visiting Canada on a Visitor's Permit and wish to study English as a Second Language, you may study for up to six months and are required to pay international fees. 
 
If you intend to study for longer than six months, you will require a study permit. To inquire about study permits or if you have a different type of permit, please call 780.428.1111 to see if you are eligible to apply.

The majority of ESL classes are held at the Metro Continuing Education main site, 7835 - 76 Avenue. Classroom assignments for all locations are posted in the building lobbies on the first day of classes. As well, office staff are available to provide direction assistance. Part-time evening and full-time day LINC classes are also offered at other sites in Mill Woods.

Students attending courses at Metro Continuing Education are asked to park in the back parking lot behind Avonemore School.

Students who park in other areas are asked to please be aware of the posted signage. 

Metro Continuing Education is committed to making our classes accessible whenever possible. For questions about accessibility please call or email our office. If we are not able to accommodate your accessibility needs, we will refund your payment. 

Metro Continuing Education does not close due to inclement weather and all classes will run as scheduled. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance.

Requests for refunds must be made at least two business days prior to the start date of the class.  A withdrawal fee of $25 will be charged.No refund will be issued after the start date.

Cheque refunds may take up to three weeks to process if originally paid by cash, cheque or debit.

If you were denied a study permit and you received an acceptance letterfrom Metro, you will be required to return the original Metro acceptance letter along with the Immigration Refusal Documentation. The processing fee and application fee are non-refundable. No refund will be issued after the start date.

If you are unable to begin classes as planned, we can transfer your fee payment to another session for future studies (one time only), or we can issue you a refund of the tuition and material fee payments, less a$250 processing fee and the non-refundable $40 registration fee.
