High School Credit Information


FEES & MATERIALS: IN-CLASS PROGRAMS

When you register, you are required to pay all applicable fees for each course or provide documents that confirm payment.

Students under 20 years of age on Sept. 1 of the current school year:
No tuition
Program fee: $40 non-refundable
Textbook Rental & Deposit: $130

Students 20 years of age or older on Sept. 1 of the current school year
5-credit course: $459
Program fee: $40 non-refundable
Textbook Rental & Deposit: $130

International students:

5-credit course: $994
Program fee: $40 non-refundable
Textbook Rental & Deposit: $130
Diploma exam fee: $50

Textbook Rental & Deposit:
Textbook rentals are available online through the Metro Bookstore – Academic Book Rental service or in person through the Registration & Customer Service office. Textbooks will be distributed at the first class.
The $130 fee includes a $30 textbook rental fee and a $100 textbook deposit. The $30 textbook rental fee is non-refundable. Upon the satisfactory return of the textbook you will receive a refund of $100 for the textbook deposit. An additional $30 charge applies if the textbook is not returned within one week after the final exam. Students who pay by cheque or cash will receive a cheque refund – no cash refunds are available.

Workbooks, Manuals & Materials:
Some courses require a workbook, manual or additional materials. Various charges apply. Visit our website or call 780.428.1111 for more information.

SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING REQUIREMENTS

Students work on modules independently and submit assignments regularly. All assignments must be submitted by by a certain date to meet the year-end deadline. Please confirm this date when registering.  Students must write a supervised final exam and diploma exam (if applicable) in the course(s) in which they are registered.

COURSE CHANGES

Choose courses very carefully. Once classes start, it is difficult to transfer courses. A $40 transfer fee per course is charged for a student-requested transfer. There is no charge for transfers made in consultation with a Metro counsellor or administrator. Call 780.428.1111. for transfer information.

Cancellations

Metro reserves the right to cancel any course. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by Metro. Refunds take up to three weeks for processing through Edmonton Public Schools Financial Services.

Withdrawals

If you submit a withdrawal form before the start of the second class of a course, all tuition and textbook rental and deposit fees will be refunded. The $40 program fee is non-refundable. If you submit a withdrawal form before the start of the fourth class of a course, you may apply for a full credit towards taking an academic course next semester OR a 50% refund of the tuition fees. The $40 program fee and $30 textbook rental fee are non-refundable. No credits or refunds will be issued after the start of the fourth class of a course. Course credits or refunds will only be processed once your textbook(s) are returned. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal. Refunds may take up to three weeks to process.
